Indian Railways Fare Hike from July 1: Train fares are going to increase. Indian Railways has announced a decision to increase the fares of several trains from next month. Details on how much the fares of which trains are going to increase will be given later.

Nowadays, it has become one of the most important means of transportation in the country. Every day, a large number of passengers travel by train across the country, whether to local areas or distant destinations. The Railway Department offers passenger service facilities in both cases. One of the significant advantages of railway transport is its low fare, but this time, the cost of providing services through it is going to increase. Indian Railways is planning to expand the fare of passenger trains. According to a source in an organization, the fare of passenger trains is going to increase. How much is the cost of train transportation going to rise by Indian Railways?
According to sources, the fare of non-AC trains or express trains is being increased by one paisa per kilometer, while the fare of AC class has been increased by two paise per kilometer. On the other hand, there will be no increase in the fare for ordinary second-class travel up to 500 kilometers, and if it exceeds that, the fare of train tickets will increase by .5 paise per kilometer.

However, even though these fares have been increased, the Railway Department has decided to keep the fares of local trains unchanged. At the same time, it is reported that the price of Monthly Session Ticket (MST) tickets is also going to remain unchanged. Experts estimate that this has become a significant relief for daily commuters.
This fare increase will come into effect from July 1, 2025, meaning that from the first day of next month, passengers will have to spend some extra money to travel on certain trains. Those who travel long distances or daily will have to spend some extra money from next month if they want to travel by mail train or express train, Indian Railways has assured.
An expert in this regard said that the decision of the railways has been taken by the fare collector, but the amount of this allowance is minimal, so it will not be a big concern for the passengers. On the other hand, the fare of local trains has been kept unchanged. The fare of monthly session tickets is also going to remain unchanged, so this issue does not seem to be a significant initiative. Still, there may be a slight increase in the pocket of mail or express train passengers.
