BCCI and ECB honour legends Sachin Tendulkar and James Anderson with a new trophy dedicated to their name(Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy) for remarkable achievements in Test Cricket. The series was unveiled on Thursday before the five-match series between the two countries. The first test match started on June 20 in Leeds.
About Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy
The Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy replaced the Pataudi Trophy name. Some former cricketers oppose this decision, including Sunil Gavaskar. This initiative was taken by the England and Wales Cricket Board and the Board of Control of Cricket in India(BCCI).
Another side both cricket boards ensure that they don’t let go of the legacy of the Pataudi’s name. They make an award named “Pataudi Medal” to be presented to the winning captain of every England vs India Test Series.
What James Anderson and Sachin Tendulkar Said?
On this decision, Anderson described it with honor: ” It’s a proud moment for me and my family to have this iconic series named after Sachin and me. To be recognised in this way is a real honour. I’m looking forward to seeing the next chapter unfold in English summer. It promises to be compelling, competitive cricket—exactly what you’d expect from two great sides,” Anderson said.
